APR: just after a one-year cliff unlock and an all-time low, perps rip 67% in a day, with open interest at 80% of the float

APR, the token of Capricorn (formerly aPriori), topped Binance's futures gainers on 25 October with +67% in 24 hours. Binance lists no APR spot; Binance perps traded $498M in a day, 11.7 times all spot markets combined, and open interest reached 322M tokens, 80% of the circulating supply. The move came two days after the one-year cliff unlock: tokens released by the issuer's multisigs went out to 64 wallets via distributors, 91% of them are still untouched, and only 4.38M can be traced to exchanges. Of the 1 billion APR, 64.3% sits in ten multisigs run by the same six signers, and the token contract is upgradeable.

key findingsData as of 25 Oct 2026, 18:42 UTC
  1. From 21:00 UTC on 24 October the Binance APRUSDT perpetual rose 43% in an hour; at 06:00 on the 25th it touched 0.0549 and then fell 38% within the hour. Over 24 hours: +67% (0.0255 → 0.0427). We found no announcement, listing or product news in the previous 14 days to explain it
  2. Perps did the lifting: Binance perps alone traded $498M in 24 hours, 11.7 times the $42.4M across all 26 spot pairs; 12.6B tokens changed hands, 31 times the float; open interest of 322M tokens equals 80% of the 402M circulating. Binance, Upbit and Bithumb list no APR spot
  3. 64.3% of the 1 billion APR sits in ten Gnosis Safes controlled by the same six signers (4-of-6). APR on Ethereum and BNB Chain are upgradeable proxy contracts, and a separate 3-of-5 multisig holds the upgrade key
  4. 22–23 October was the one-year cliff after TGE, adding 93.3M tokens to the float. Of the 68.9M the distributors sent to 64 wallets, 91% has not moved; only 4.38M (0.44% of supply) can be traced to exchanges within 72 hours. The issuer Safes themselves sent nothing directly to an exchange in the last 30 days

Subject: APR, the token of Capricorn (formerly aPriori). Total supply is 1 billion, native on Ethereum (contract 0x5a9610919f5e81183823a2be4bd1beb2b4da2a20) and bridged via LayerZero to BNB Chain (0x299a…1099) and Monad. Price and derivatives data come from the public APIs of Binance and other exchanges and from CoinGecko; on-chain data from Ethereum and BNB Chain transfers and contract reads. All times are UTC (the UK went back to winter time on 25 October, so UK time equals UTC).

Key numbers

The short version

1. A perp rally with no news. From 21:00 on 24 October the Binance APRUSDT perpetual rose 43% in an hour, ran again overnight, touched 0.0549 at 06:00 on the 25th and then fell 38% within the hour. Over 24 hours it was +67% (0.0255 → 0.0427). We checked the project’s channels, exchange announcements and mainstream media from 11 to 25 October and found no new listing, product, airdrop or partnership.

2. Almost all the trading was in perps. Binance lists no APR spot. Binance perps alone traded $498M in 24 hours, against $42.4M across all 26 spot pairs: 11.7 times. Binance perps turned over 12.6B tokens in a day, 31 times the float; open interest of 322M tokens equals 80% of the circulating supply. Spot depth within ±2% is a few thousand to a few tens of thousands of dollars per venue.

3. 64.3% of supply is with one group of signers, and the token can be upgraded. On-chain we found ten Gnosis Safes whose owners are the same six addresses (4-of-6). Together they hold 643M tokens, 64.3% of supply, in amounts that match the foundation, ecosystem, community, team and early-backer allocations. APR on Ethereum and BNB Chain are upgradeable proxy contracts, and the upgrade key sits with a separate 3-of-5 multisig.

4. The one-year cliff unlocked two days earlier, but most of it has not moved. 22–23 October marked 12 months since TGE; the float rose from 309M to 402M. Two distributors sent 68.9M tokens to 64 wallets, and as of 18:56 on the 25th 91% is still there. Only 4.38M can be traced to exchanges within 72 hours, about 0.03% of one day’s Binance perp volume. The issuer Safes themselves sent nothing directly to any exchange in the last 30 days.

What APR is

Capricorn, formerly aPriori, is a DeFi project centred on Monad: aprMON is a liquid staking token for MON, Capricorn Exchange is a DEX, and the project calls itself an “order-flow coordination layer” that returns MEV revenue to stakers and validators. According to funding data cited by iq.wiki, backers include Pantera Capital, Binance Labs, Hashed, YZi Labs and OKX Ventures, about $30M in total. We found no reliable public source naming the founders or the company.

  • Listing: TGE via Binance Wallet on 23 October 2025, with Binance Alpha and the Binance perpetual (10:30 UTC) on the same day. Binance has no APR spot market, and neither do Upbit or Bithumb.
  • Three chains: Ethereum holds the native contract with all 1 billion tokens; 435M of them are locked in the LayerZero adapter, exactly the supply on BNB Chain (421M) plus Monad (14M).
  • Rebrand and buyback: on 12–13 August 2026 the project said it was buying back 5.3% of supply (about 53M tokens) from early investors for community incentives and the ecosystem, not to burn. The Binance perp went from 0.2076 to 0.6074 that day, then from 0.511 to 0.162 on 15 August.
  • Then a long slide: on 23 October at 19:24 it set an all-time low of 0.02263, 97% below the first day’s high of 0.7396.

Hourly perp data

  • Volume: Binance perps $498M in 24 hours, Bybit $92.0M, Bitget $74.7M, Gate $26.6M, MEXC $12.7M; OKX reports only coin volume (5.98B), roughly $236M at the average price. All spot combined: $42.4M, led by PancakeSwap on BNB Chain ($15.2M), Bitget ($7.6M) and Coinbase ($6.1M).
  • Open interest: up from 219M tokens at 19:00 on 24 October to 322M now (+47% in coin terms, about $13.7M), equal to 80% of the float.
  • Taker flow: in the most volatile hours, taker buys were only 47%–51% of volume; there was no one-sided buying.
  • Funding: settled every 4 hours. It sat at +0.005% from 21 to 25 October, then +0.038%, +0.028% and +0.042% from 08:00 on the 25th. Positive, but far from the 2% cap.
  • Long/short: the all-account ratio fell from 2.36 to 1.81 (low of 1.52 at 06:00 on the 25th), and the top-trader position ratio from 1.65 to 1.38. The price went up while the share of longs went down.

Perps vs spot

Open interest rising with price (in coin terms) means a lot of new positions; the falling long/short ratios mean a good share of them were shorts, or longs trimming into the rally. The 06:00 hour, down 38% from the high on the day’s biggest volume, looks like a chain of liquidations of leveraged positions on a thin book. Binance does not publish liquidations by token, so this cannot be confirmed.

The upshot: on a token with a few tens of thousands of dollars of depth per spot venue and open interest worth 80% of the float, perp money sets the price. This rally did not need anyone to buy much spot.

Holders: 64% with one group of signers

Who holds the 1 billion

We read the contract code and multisig settings of the top 50 holders on Ethereum and BNB Chain:

Category Tokens Share Basis
Issuer Safes (6 on Ethereum, 4 on BNB Chain) 643M 64.3% On-chain getOwners(): same six signers, threshold 4
Likely Bitget wallets (0x4cad…, 0xed9a…) 88.8M 8.9% Keep receiving sweeps from Bitget deposit addresses; no public label
Unlock recipients (large) 52.0M 5.2% Funded by the distributors
Unknown BNB Chain contract 0x73d8… 50.9M 5.1% Small transfers with another address every minute; no label
Labelled exchanges 27.3M 2.7% Etherscan labels for Coinbase, MEXC, KuCoin
Dormant BNB Chain wallet 24.6M 2.5% Only six transactions ever
Whale withdrawn from Coinbase 0xd190… 23.6M 2.4% 18 withdrawals from Coinbase in 30 days

The token can be upgraded. APR on Ethereum and BNB Chain are EIP-1967 proxies; on both chains the proxy admin is owned by the same 3-of-5 multisig, 0x1869…b849, which also owns the bridge adapter. Three of its five signers are among the six above. The current code has no mint function, but a proxy can be pointed at new code, so “cannot be minted” only holds until an upgrade.

Take out the issuer Safes and about 357M tokens remain in the market: roughly 116M on exchanges, 50.9M in the unknown contract and about 62.9M with unlock recipients. Set against 322M tokens of perp open interest, derivatives positions are very large relative to tradable spot.

The unlock: what was released, and where it went

Where the unlocked tokens went

Under the vesting rules listed by Tokenomics.com, the team allocation releases 25% at 12 months and early backers 33% at 12 months. The on-chain amounts match:

  • Ethereum Safe 0xe850… sent 53.3M of its 160M (one third), all of which reached distributor 0xef51… via a relay;
  • BNB Chain Safe 0xcf65… sent 40M of its 160M (25%), but into another Safe run by the same signers, 0xd9d7…, where 36.3M still sits;
  • transfers among other Safes moved about 21.8M more, which ended up with the two distributors.

The two main moves add up to 93.3M, exactly CoinGecko’s increase in circulating supply from 308.75M to 402.08M.

Most of what went out has not moved. Over 30 days the two distributors (0xef51…, 0x2e50…) sent 68.9M tokens to 64 wallets; at 18:56 on the 25th, 62.85M (91.2%) was still there, and the five largest recipients (17.97M, 13.33M, 5.56M, 5.0M, 3.0M) had not moved a token. About 4.38M can be traced to exchanges within 72 hours: Coinbase 1.77M, Coinbase Prime (institutional custody) 1.44M, LBank 0.83M, Bitget 0.33M; some more was bridged via LayerZero or swapped through LI.FI and KyberSwap.

A deposit is not a sale, and 4.38M is 0.03% of one day’s Binance perp volume, far too small to explain the move. One thing is worth noting: the price took off about 37 hours after the unlock was distributed, from an all-time low.

The next unlock depends on the data provider: Tokenomics.com says 23 November 2026 (about 30.9M, community and foundation), Tokenomist says 23 January 2027. Unlocks continue to 2029–2030.

Higher is better (a low “derivatives structure” means higher risk). APR has backers and a product; what pulls the score down is structure: two thirds of supply with one group of signers, an upgradeable contract, very thin spot and a price set in perps.

Possible paths from here

  • Perps cool off and the price drifts back (about 50%): with no fundamental news behind it, perp volume and open interest fall back to a few million dollars a day and the price returns to its post-unlock range. These moves usually end when funding rises and open interest starts to fall.
  • Perps push it higher again (about 25%): open interest is still high and shorts are building; on a thin book another leg does not take much money. That only means the fuel is still there, not that fundamentals changed.
  • Unlock recipients or the Safes start sending to exchanges (about 20%): 62.85M tokens still sit in 64 recipient wallets, and another unlock may come on 23 November. Deposits at these prices would make a pullback fast.
  • A real fundamental change (about 5%): for example publishing which Safe holds which allocation, giving up the upgrade key, or verifiable usage growth on Monad.

What to watch

  1. Open interest, funding and long/short on the Binance APR perp: rising funding, falling open interest and a stalling price is the combination that ends this kind of move.
  2. The 64 unlock recipients, especially the five largest: 0xebef… (17.97M), 0x0919… (13.33M), 0xa2d1… (5.56M), 0x3624… (5.0M), 0x0016… (3.0M). Transfers to exchanges would be the first sign unlocked tokens are being sold.
  3. The issuer Safes and the upgrade Safe 0x1869…b849: any transfer to an exchange, or an upgrade of the proxies, is worth seeing first.
  4. 23 November: the next unlock date on Tokenomics.com.

Finally

APR looks a lot like our earlier issues: a token with very thin spot and only a perp market on Binance rose 67% in a day without any public news, nearly all of it traded in perps, with open interest at 80% of the float. On-chain, the one-year unlock had just finished, two thirds of supply still sit with one group of signers, and the token contract can be upgraded.

This time the issuer did not use the rally to send tokens to exchanges, and most unlock recipients stayed put. But for a token with 64% under one set of signers and unlocks running to 2030, what matters more than one day’s move is when those Safes and the 64 recipient wallets move next.
