ends your position

The higher the leverage, the closer liquidation is. Pick a token, a direction and a leverage to see how far the liquidation price is, then check it against 90 real daily candles: how often does a single day cover that distance?

Daily adverse move vs liquidation distance

Each bar is the biggest move against you within a day: for a long, how far the low fell below the open; for a short, how far the high rose above it. The dashed line is the liquidation distance; bars past it are amber.

by leverage

Same token, different leverage

With the same direction and the same 90 days, how the liquidation distance and the number of days past it change with leverage.

Method: isolated margin, liquidation ≈ entry × (1 ∓ 1/leverage) ÷ (1 ∓ maintenance margin rate), with the maintenance rate set at 1% and fees and funding ignored; exchanges use tiered rates and the mark price, and larger positions have higher maintenance rates and sit closer to liquidation. “Days past” assumes a position opened at each day’s open and closed the same day, purely to show how volatility and leverage interact. Historical data only; not investment advice, and no recommendation on leverage, direction or size.
